Earlier this year, Intel invested $30 million in cloud computing startups, signaling the company’s intent
to go big on emerging technologies.
Intel has now unveiled the much-awaited 10th generation of processors designed for laptops. The new lineup is manufactured using 10nm ‘Sunny Cove’ chipset fabrication architecture. Intel has brought usual performance and battery life permanence to the new processor lineup.
What’s new?
The 10th gen core processors bring them a more significant update to Intel’s processor’s lineup. The company has recently moved to 10 nanometers (nm) processors. The smaller processors ensure that CPUs consume very little power and increase battery life. The company has focused more on improving the features of its 10th gen core chips. The most notable addition is the built-in AI-integrated Thunderbolt 3 technology, which is built into the new CPUs.
The new chips also come up WiFi 6 (802.11ax), the latest WiFi standard. It is built to ensure faster transfer speeds and the ability to handle connected devices. These 10th gen processors come with the latest version of Intel’s Iris Plus graphics and Intel UHD Graphics which allow for a smooth 1080p gaming experience.
The final addition in 10th gen core chips is the ability to handle and support artificial intelligence workloads. The dedicated instruction set called Depp Learning Boost (DLB) makes sure that the processor is capable of carrying out AI workloads.
When can you expect to see it in the market?
Intel hasn’t provided any timeline for when its 10th gen core chips will be available for public. It is expected that the first batch of new laptops will get these processors. Intel has tested around 35 laptop designs from various manufacturers throughout 2019. The influx of new and refreshed laptops sporting these chips will be available in the holiday season.
There is no precise release date or plan for releasing Intel’s 10th Gen Core chips for desktop PCs. The company expects to release them for other PC segments throughout the next one year.
